Sasha waited until the two men secured a cab and decided to follow them. He hopped inside the taxi before them and settled in the front seat next to the driver, but was invisible to the naked eye.

Akimitou would have a fit if he knew the risk he was taking, but since they were in possession of the sphere, Hitoshi Akiyama could not detect him. Sasha had stolen the orb from the man at the last moment before he and his brothers escaped, and had given it to Akimitou for safekeeping. Akimitou had hidden it somewhere and not told them as a security measure.

“Can all the brothers disappear?” the man with Hitoshi asked.

“Yes,” Hitoshi answered. “But some are better at it than the others. The younger ones, Zennyo Ryuo and Betobeto-san, are very crafty.”

“Is there some way to make them visible?” the other man asked.

“Yes, one way is with a spell from the witches’ Book of Shadows,” Hitoshi told him.

“Which you didn’t bother to memorize,” Sachio sarcastically.

“I never had a need to, because I always had the sphere,” Hitoshi explained angrily.

“So what’s our next step?”

“We return to the club tomorrow to see if he shows up again,” Hitoshi said. “If not, we’ll question everyone in the place. Someone must have some information on the demon.”

Sasha had been very careful not to give out any information like his home address or the address of the restaurant. The only name the manager of the club or the hosts knew him by was Sasha, and since the club paid in cash, he couldn’t be traced that way, either.

The cab finally stopped. Sasha got up on his hind paws to look out of the window. They were outside a hotel in the area near their restaurant. Fuck. Sasha hopped over the seat and got out after Hitoshi and the man who Hitoshi called Sachio. They entered the hotel and headed to the elevator right inside the entry. The men entered and the elevator doors closed. Sasha watched the numbers until the elevator stopped on the fifth floor, and then he took off for home.

Sasha made it to Jordan’s place and materialized into human form, dressed all in white. His magic was strong enough to conjure up clothing. He knocked.

Jordan came to the door, smiled and invited him in. “Are you hungry?”

“Yes,” Sasha answered, forgetting about Hitoshi for now.

Jordan led him into the kitchen.

Sasha noticed a counter full of snacks for Mr. Kitty. He picked up one of the boxes as Jordan warmed his dinner. “You’re going to spoil him.”

“He deserves to be spoiled. He’s such the perfect pet.” Jordan paused. “Did you happen to see him on your way in?”

“No,” Sasha answered. He washed and dried his hands and sat down at the table.

Jordan placed a plate of food in front of him. “Aren’t you going to join me?”

Jordan shook his head. “I’ve already eaten.” He poured himself a cup of tea and joined Sasha at the table. “How was work?”

“Okay,” Sasha answered.
